NOTES
Early Summer Fishing
Belews Lake
In May, Belews Lake in North Carolina offers excellent fishing opportunities. Anglers can expect to catch a variety of species including largemouth bass, striped bass, catfish, and crappie. With water temperatures warming up, bass fishing can be particularly productive, especially in the early morning and late evening hours. Topwater lures and soft plastics are effective for targeting bass near structure such as submerged trees and brush piles. Striped bass are often found in deeper waters, so trolling with live bait or large swimbaits can yield good results. Catfish can be caught using live bait or stink baits near the lake bottom, while crappie are often found around submerged vegetation and can be targeted with jigs or live minnows. As always, be sure to check local regulations and obtain any necessary permits before fishing.
